This is a fascinating exploration of how copyright law works. Also, it makes you realize how all American music has deep roots in the past. It could be argued(and has been many times) that at the root of all of it is the blues. As to the hand wringing in the comments over the "dysfunction in our copyright system" I'm not concerned. The Lomax clan is responsible for preserving and popularizing so much American music usually with no great financial reward. This case is an extreme example but good fun.
